Well its officially fall according to the calendar, and the Utah weather seems to be cooperating as well. Crisp mornings, vibrant foliage, and pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, have all replaced our hot summer days sipping lemonade poolside. I don’t know about you’ll, but I’m ready to ditch my sundress and pull up my boots!
This time of year is all about bundling up and laying on the comfort. Just as our meals become a bit hardier and our wardrobes warmer, I feel our homes should mirror that scentiment. Here are some ideas on how to do that.
Layer your home just like your outfit. Add throws, blankets, and pillows just as you would a sweater or scarf. Bundle up! Furs, knits, and flanels are some of my favorite textures to add for cooler temps. You’ll enjoy the extra comfort at arms length when curling up with a good book or watching your favorite show.
Fresh blooms are in abundance during the summer, but what grows in the fall? Try harvesting some natural elements from your own yard or outside. Some ideas may be some branch clippings from a tree, pine cones or acorns that have fallen, and of course the ever so famous pumpkins and gourds. I love seeded eucalyptus if your not into the traditional reds and oranges. It grows so well in the fall and provides such a fresh, fragrant aroma!
I also love using seasonal fruit to create small vignettes throughout my home. Pears and apples are my go too’s! Although I’ve been loving the clementines for a bolder choice. Even if your a neutral lover, these can provide you with the look you are seeking. Edible decor is always a win!
Just have fun changing things up. Sometimes moving things around is all you need for a fresh seasonal look. Remember, decor doesn’t have to be expensive. I often start by gathering what I have and building from there!Add to favorites or read later
