2021 Project Roundup

Uncategorized

Last year was filled with so many projects in both my home, and my sister, Alyse’s, home as well. I wanted to share this 2021 Project Roundup to highlight alllll of the things I was able to accomplish!

I am sharing all of my projects with links to their blog posts, so you can see the before and afters! Read on for the full posts and tutorials, and shop the furniture, decor, and supplies used to create each space.

Front Porch Brick Paver Tutorial: This was my BIG exterior project of last year. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love the way it turned out! It just makes our front porch area look so complete and ties everything together.

Master Bedroom and Bathroom

DIY Bedroom Wall Molding: One of the very first projects of the year was this bedroom molding wall. You know my love for molding, it takes a space to the next level. And that is exactly what this molding wall in our bedroom does! This was my first postpartum project after Juni!

Master Bathroom Glow Up and DIY Grasscloth Barn Door: Our master bathroom has always been beautiful and one of my favorite rooms. But I really wanted to add more detail to the blank wall space.

Because I did molding on the wall in the bedroom, it only made sense for me to carry it into the bathroom! The finishing touch was the grasscloth wall paper on the closet door. Check out the BEFORE to see just how much the molding elevated my master bathroom.

Staircase Landing

Staircase Landing Reveal and DIY Oversized Floating Frame: I think sometimes staircase landings can be overlooked spaces that go empty and unused, but not this one. I styled my staircase landing with many pieces I already had and created a DIY floating frame for this canvas that I have had for two years.

Laundry Room

Peel & Stick Marble Tile Backsplash and Laundry Room Update: If you’ve never done tile work, try this marble peel and stick backsplash like I did! It’s such and easy yet durable product to start with! The laundry room is also a room for me to work on projects. Once it was done, it quickly became one of my favorite rooms in the house.

Basement Projects

DIY Asymmetrical Wall: You all know how much I like to add molding to a blank wall, and this corner in our basement was the perfect place to do it!

The cool thing about it is that from one angle it’s symmetrical and from another it’s asymmetrical! And it was actually a lot simpler than it looks!

DIY Console Table: I have been wanting a console table behind the couch in our basement for a while, but they are so expensive and I could never find one that was exactly what I wanted. So I decided to build one! This provides an extra seating area for the kids while snacking and watching a movie.

Home Gym Reveal: This home gym was a work in progress for a while, but I finally finished it! The room has a mirror wall, rubber floors, and a punching bag! I love having this dedicated workout space in the basement. It makes fitting in a workout during the day so much easier.

Budget Friendly Bathroom Makeover: It’s crazy how much paint can change a space! This bathroom is mainly used by the kids because it is right off of the trampoline room. I knew I could have some fun and do something I wouldn’t upstairs.

Coastal Guest Bedroom DIY: If you have been here for a while, you’ll remember when I did the hand painted ombre accent wall in our basement guest bedroom.

The room still didn’t feel finished after that though, and I wanted to add more interest. I decided to do a fun variation of board and batten and it turned out great!

My Sister’s House

This year I was lucky enough to get to update a couple rooms in my sister, Alyse’s, house! We essentially transformed her entire main floor and then toward the end of the year we moved upstairs into her unused loft area. Alyse’s decor style is mid-century modern, so it was fun to get to flex my creative muscle!

Modern MidCentury Accent Wall Tutorial: The downstairs transformation started in the dining space. It was just begging for an accent wall! I love this dark gray color we were able to incorporate.

DIY Midcentury Modern Slat Wall Tutorial: I wanted to create a feature that looked like it could be in an upscale hotel. This slat wall did just that! It looks detailed, but it was so simple and adds just the right amount of “wow.”

Entryway Makeover: Before and After: With the slat wall being in the entryway, the rest of the updating came in the form of furniture and decor! I reused her current console table and added a few things here or there to complete the look.

Sister’s Living Room Reveal: Anything done in my sister’s home is a favorite on my 2021 Project Roundup.

The entire inspiration for the main floor came from these two orange crushed velvet chairs that were passed down to her husband from his late grandma. Orange can be a tricky color to work with! But we were able to balance it with gray and navy, so it serves perfectly as an accent color.

Budget Friendly Floating Shelf DIY Tutorial: I think it’s pretty common for houses to have weird nooks that can be seeming useless. And Alyse’s living had one of those, but I was able to turn it into a functioning space for displaying decor, with these floating shelves that I built myself!

DIY Modern Board and Batten Tutorial: Her loft rounded out my year packed with projects. It was a cluttered space that held no purpose. I was able to transform it into a comfy lounge and desk area! You can see the finished space on Instagram HERE and HERE.

And that rounds out my year of projects for 2021! Which one was your favorite?

  1. Loved every single project! You also did your nephew’s bedroom and it was adorable. I’m trying to figure out how to bring those colors and style elements into my twin boys bedroom and recreate the look with their bunk beds. Keep it going! You’re very inspiring. I just know one day I will pick up a paint brush.

  2. Your projects are all amazing! I love the wall paper in the launry room so I have to say that’s my favorite. I painted the vanity and linen cabinet in my master bath BM cheating heart after seeing it in your home and love it! Do you have a source for the mirrors in your master bath? I am looking for something similar to that style and color. Thanks
