Loveliest Looks for Summer Tour + Blue French Country Patio

French Country Modern | Home Tour | Interior Decor

Welcome to our Loveliest Looks Of Summer Tour. I have teamed up with five other bloggers to bring you lot’s of summer fashion and outdoor decor inspo! Here in Utah we get all four seasons, so each time a new one rolls around I am so ready! This summer is especially exciting because it is our first summer in our new home.  Some of you have followed along the building and design journey of this home (all here on the blog), but to those of you who are new to Remington Avenue, Welcome.  My name is Mysha and I am an interior designer and DIY enthusiast. I designed this home from the ground up and continue to share my design process as I complete each space.  Today I am excited to share my entire french country patio reveal with pops of blue as part of the Loveliest looks of Summer tour, hosted by Summer Adams & A Blissful Nest!

Let’s walk out to my french country dining patio

Our family loves to be outside, so naturally I designed our outdoor living spaces to be comfortable for eating and lounging throughout most of the year. Right off the kitchen are these large black french doors. They match all of the window style throughout my home and you can find out how I got the look of steel windows for less HERE.  We love to crank open the kitchen windows and let the summer breeze.

Walking out to the patio you’ll notice the black decking. My patio floor is polyurethane decking that I designed to look like a tile inlay. It is super durable but makes a great design statement. I love the contrast against my painted white brick home.  Click here for the custom exterior paint formula. I still have a couple projects I’d like to complete on this patio, ie: build a large window box for flowers and create a built-in grill station. I’m hoping to tackle those this summer so stay tuned for the tutorials.  For now, we are enjoying lot’s of summer meals on our newly painted outdoor table. I bought this pottery barn table second hand about 4 years ago.  Last month I decided to paint it white for a fresh look.  I love it paired with the black and white bistro chairs at each end.

Add some color with fresh fruit and flowers to create an easy summer table for entertaining.  Pops of pink combined with the blue and white color scheme create a fresh festive vibe. I love my marble melamine dishes for outdoor entertaining.  They look great while being kid friendly. Win Win!

Take a Tour of my Black Pergola patio with pops of blue

I’m sure you’ve already noticed the giant black pergola standing 10ft high over my lower patio. I had it custom built by a company called Notched.  They do great work. Originally is was stained a grayish brown, but I recently had it re-stained with a custom oil based stain to match my black doors.  Sometimes even designers don’t get it right the first time. I strung 3 strands of black cafe lights to create a moody ambience at night. Click here for my cafe lights. They are plugged into an electrical outlet on the back of my fireplace structure.  The lower patio measures 20’x 23′ and is entirely formed out of pavers. The basement walkout walls are made from the Belgard Brookshire collection and the patio floor out of the Cambridge Cobble collection.  The color is Victorian throughout. All of my landscaping, hard and soft surfaces, was done by Four Seasons Landscaping. Just ask for Bob and let him know Mysha sent ya…I am happy to say we are now friends!  Just last week I had him come add some climbing wisteria to each pergola column.  I cannot wait to see it grow and cascade over the structure.

My entire home is what I call “Modern french country style”. The landscaping and outdoor spaces are no exception.  You can find my landscaping plans here. Hint: I used a lot of boxwoods – future hedges! Oh and you should def check out my most recent DIY where I overhauled my entire driveway, adding some major curb appeal with paint! I know crazy right!? The lower patio is definitely the hangout zone.  The custom outdoor fireplace is gas for convenience… picture s’mores with the family and causal dinners with friends.  I love symmetry so two matching outdoor sofas seemed like the right choice. I adore the natural color of these weatherproof sofas.  The entire collection features a grand sofa (mine), a loveseat, swivel chairs, and an ottoman. I try not to be too matchy matchy so I mixed in some fun striped floor pillows and a stand alone coffee table. Unfortunately the coffee table I ordered has not arrived yet, but you can click here to see what’s coming. Im obsessed!

Blue outdoor pillows perfect for any summer patio

Admittedly I went a little crazy on the outdoor throw pillows… can you blame me?  I love mixing textures and patterns to create visual interest and added comfort. I recently purchased all of these outdoor pillows from Serena & Lily and they can be used indoors as well. You can shop my entire pillow collection below (the light blue woven one in the center is my fav). Tip: I like to buy my outdoor pillow inserts from Ikea.  They are inexpensive so I double up and use 2 inserts in each pillow. Don’t use down pillow inserts outdoors- they will mildew.

I’m still “on the fence” about what kind of fence I want to install. I love wrought iron, but it doesn’t do much for privacy. Ideally I would plant some fast growing henges or vines to create more of a barrier but that takes time.  If you you have any good fence recommendations please feel free to add them to the comment section below. Thanks for joining me for an outdoor summer tour. Make sure to check out all the fun ideas from the other bloggers below.
