Christmas Porch Update

Uncategorized

Bye bye pumpkins and hellooooo Christmas – it’s time for a little Christmas Porch Update! With it being December, it was time to swap out the fall front porch decor for something more festive! This is a simple transition and you can totally use what you have around the house – it’s so much fun to switch out the decor with the seasons.

Instead of just throwing them away, we put all of our real pumpkins in our garbage can so that we could wheel it to our neighbors compost pile. Once that was cleared, I brought out my faux garlands to hang above the door. It’s actually the same base garland that I used in my Whimsical Christmas Mantel Tutorial. As you can tell, I like it a lot! For the Christmas porch update, I used two 9ft strands and I hung it all using giant command hooks to secure it. My hooks from last year were actually still on. That’s how strong they are – highly recommend command hooks. I put the parts where the two pieces meet slightly overlapping on the center hook and then a couple on the sides to hold it in place.

Next, I added faux teardrop swags with pine cones to the bottoms of my lanterns.

To fill the large pots on the porch, I added 2 mini pre-lit trees. I have had these trees for 3 years, and still love them.

To make my door arrangements for my Christmas porch tutorial:
I started with the woven baskets and began adding pieces however they looked best. I put in some large pinecones, faux eucalyptus stems, and then added greenery to the front of the baskets.

Then, I topped each one off with a large bow I made from this ribbon. From here, I attached mine to the iron part of the door using twine. That’s it!

If you want to get a better idea of how I made them, watch this Instagram highlight. Once the door arrangements were done I added a few more finishing touches.

In the pots with the mini trees, I put a few logs – which you can find online, or in local hardware stores. Then I hung a strand of gold bells off of the pots and added the same ribbon I used on the door arrangements.

I hung a cluster of coordinating ornaments over the door to add a little something to the garland and finish it off. Easy and so festive!

It’s officially the holidays with my Christmas porch, bring on the family fun!
