Laundry/Mudroom with Herringbone Brick Floor

Elegant laundry/mudroom with herringbone brick floor and soft blue cabinets.

Wahoo, I know you all have been waiting patiently for the scoop on this elegant laundry/mudroom.  The perfect hue of blue covers the custom cabinetry and marries so well with the herringbone brick floor. Let’s take a peek shall we! 

My client and I attended the UV parade of homes back in 2018 and saw a similar floor in one of the homes.  We both fell in love at first sight and knew we had to replicate it in her home! Honestly , my client was very inspired by many of the beautiful details in this Parade home designed by Erin Hansen Design.  Here is a photo of her work! She is a wonderful designer here in Utah. 

After hunting for a similar brick tile everywhere, I finally landed at floor & decor.  This brick tile is called New York Soho.  The brick floor moves throughout the laundry room and mudroom.  The pattern looks different depending on where you enter, but I love the end result.  It’s laid in a true herringbone pattern with a wider grout line to mimic the real look of brick.  The grout color is a light gray called Frost. Also note: we removed any tiles from the batch that were too orange or red.  It’s important to look through your tiles esp when there is a large variance in color!

The laundry room is in the form of a galley.  The perfect french country blue covers the cabinets from floor to ceiling. I guess I have a thing for blue cabinets in laundry rooms.  You can see mine HERE. I love the added shutter detail and the way the pewter hardware plays so well with the floor and cabinet color. A pretty floral wall paper or a backsplash with some glitz  and sparkle would really finish off the space nicely.  These things can easily be added later if budget is an issue (which it often is in the case of a new build). 

Did you notice the veining in the quartz counter tops? It’s one of my favorites because it features both warm and cool tones just like the brick floor tiles.

Moving into the mudroom the same buttery blue paint covers the lockers.  The cabinets have a metal mesh detail painted the same color; giving them just a little extra somethin’! A traditional wainscoting flows throughout the entire main floor.  We kept the walls white and light and painted all the interior doors a nice warm gray.  All specific paint colors listed at the bottom of this post. 

And a little peak into the pool bath that lies right off the mudroom… More on that soon!
