Living Room Design Board & New Sofa Reveal

Hello friends!  Do you like following my living room design process?  I have composed a design board with all the key pieces I’ll be using to makeover my living room.  Plus I’m sharing all the deets on my new tufted sofa!  It’s the official reveal…of my sofa anyway!  I’m such a tease:)

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ll probably recognize the area rug and chandelier.  Those are the only 2 items that are sticking around from the old living room design.  Also, I’d love to hear your feedback on something.  I’ve been thinking of writing a blog post on “How to style a bookcase”.  I’ve had a ton of questions on this topic recently and thought I’d ask if it would be helpful.  Let me know your thoughts!

Now let’s talk sofa’s! I have been wanting a tufted sofa for years now.  I weighed out the pro’s and con’s of leather vs. fabric.  I love the look of both, but it came down to comfort for me.  I feel fabric is the cozier option for a living room.  When I found this one, It was love at first site.

We had a very large sectional in my living room before.  When we finished the basement, we no longer needed all that extra seating.  So when I spotted this white tufted sofa with nailhead trim on Wayfair, I was immediately hooked! It was the perfect size for the new conversation area and it came in several upholstered finishes.  I ordered a few swatches, but ultimately decided on this white woven beauty.  Its soft to the touch while adding a beautiful texture.

The Hawthorn sofa was delivered with care and placed right in my living room.  No assembly needed – thank goodness! I am one of those gals who just can’t wait for someone else’s help.  I carefully unwrapped all the plastic protection and went to work styling and restyling my new dream sofa.

Tonic Living sent me the most beautiful throw pillows to dress up my sofa.  Each pillow is filled with a down insert. Obviously they passed my fool proof karate chop test.  Oh and don’t you just love the gold zippers?  It’s all the details my friends!

 While I truly love each pillow fabric and what they individually bring to the room, I have to say the Flocked onyx pillow is my favorite.  I mean the texture, pattern, and color just pack a powerful punch!

I got tons of questions on this sofa after doing an IG story so I thought I would address them here. FAQ’s:

Q: Is the Tufted sofa comfortable?

A: Yes.  For the style of sofa, I feel like the comfort level is high.  I may not choose it to lounge around and watch tv all day, but for a living room or conversation area its perfect!

Q: How can you have a white sofa with kids?

A: Scotchguard!  I do it to every sofa without a question!  I live by it!  Also my kids are not allowed to have food or drink (except water) outside of the kitchen.  Ya, I’m that Mom 🙂

Q: Is the upholstery a quality fabric?

A. Yes. I can’t speak to the other fabric options, but the Talc Basketweave fabric is beautiful. They sent me fabric swatches free of charge.  I would highly recommend doing this before ordering your sofa.

I am so excited about how my living room design is coming together! My new tufted sofa was a key piece in my design.  If your thinking about updating your living space, I suggest choosing neutral colors for your big furniture pieces.  You can always pop the colors with accessories!  That way you can get a completely different look whenever you want!  You never know when you’ll get the itch to change things up!
