Boho Nursery Tour

DIY | Home Tour | Interior Decor

Its crazy to me that we are coming up on 1 year in this home! Looking back we have done so much to this home during that time. Of all the projects that have taken place here, this nursery has been one of the most fun rooms to design and put together.  I’m just so excited to welcome another little girl to our family!

This rug was my jumping off point.  I purchased it from RUGSUSA.  As soon as I saw the colorful pattern I knew it was the one.  I didn’t want an over the top girly nursery, so the geometric design was perfect.  It definitely has that boho (bohemian) feel.

To bring a similar pattern up to the wall I painted this triad stencil from Cuttingedgestencils above the bead board trim.  You can shop some of the latest styles just below!  They have so many good ones.

I pulled the pink, aqua, white, and gold from the tones in the rug.  I just love how stencils can be so customizable.  It was such an easy application. For a full tutorial on this stencil click HERE.

I placed a few pieces of art and wall decor on the bead board shelf.  The center piece was a DIY string art project my son and I did together.  For that tutorial click HERE.  I hung the string art from an old frame I had lying around and displayed the other pieces beside it.  I purchased the metal giraffe, feather art, and “hello Love” sign from Hobby Lobby.  A quick tip about shopping at Hobby Lobby – Never buy anything at full price!  They mark everything down to 50% off every few weeks, so just be patient! The white L makes the perfect night light with its little bulbs.  Its from Ankit.  They sell every letter!

The hanging branch was a last minute addition.  I loved the idea of a mobile and a dream catcher, so this was the result.  I simply wrapped string around a few random branches and tied feathers on the ends of the string.  I’m sure baby will love looking up at the feathers spinning from the ceiling.  The basket directly below was purchased at Home Goods, but I know Target sells a similar one.  Any extra storage for blanks and pillows is always a good idea.  Pillow is the Stockholm cushion from Ikea.

This Delta crib was such a great purchase.  I love the solid back and the color.  It also converts into a toddler bed, and then into full bed! I got it for a steal on Cyber Monday from Walmart.  Its a great buy no matter what though.  The bedskirt and bumper are from Potterybarn kids.  They are part of the organic nursery bedding collection.  I went with a simple black and white scheme to balance all the other color happening on the wall above.  I ordered this Bohemian arrow crib sheet from Woolf With Me shop. Lindsay, the owner, was so easy to work with and I just fell in love with all her cute products.  She sells handmade sheets, blankets, wraps, and hats for little baby buttons!  The beautiful baby blanket was made my my loving mother in-law.  She makes a blanket for every grandchild…and she has 20!

I’ve painted a dresser for each of my children.  My son’s came from a salvage yard, but both my daughters dressers were given to me from my husbands parents.  I think adding old pieces in the mix adds tons of character and gives a room added charm.  I removed the legs and scalloped trim from the bottom.  I also removed the cabinet doors in the center to expose the shelving. I replaced the legs with 5″ slanted metal chrome furniture legs from Amazon.  Then I painted the entire piece with Valspar furniture paint in “New Bud” from Lowes.  You can get the paint tinted to any color.  It was my first time using this product and it worked great.  I like that it doesn’t require a poly top coat…just 2 coats of paint!  I taped off the bottom 1/3 and painted it metallic gold with Rust-Oleum American Accent paint that I also ordered off Amazon.   I replaced the old hardware with these antique gold round faceted knobs I bought at Hobby Lobby for $2.50 each.  The old hardware was a really unique size.  I couldn’t find pulls that matched up to the whole placement so I just went with 2 knobs.  I have to say this is one of my favorite furniture redo’s to date!  The dresser also doubles as a changing table.  I thinks its important to buy furniture pieces that will age with the child.  I purchased the changing pad cover from Target.

Above the dresser I hung this romantic style mirror.  I like to mix styles to keep the room a bit unpredictable and eclectic.  I purchased it at Hobby Lobby along with the gold metal arrow.  The elephant statue used to be black. I spray painted it white and added the lamp topper.  It came from a lamp that broke a few years back.  You never know when these things will come in handy haha.

Rockers are a must- have in nursery design.  From late night feedings to book readings, this spot will get a lot of use. I purchased this cane-backed rocking chair second hand ($30) and gave it new life.  I removed the old warn cushion and replaced it with a foam pad.  I covered the pad with the Gullviva cushion cover from Ikea and added 2 boho style throw pillows form Homegoods.  The crochet pouf has been hanging around my living room for a while. It makes the perfect foot rest for this nursery though don’t you think?!

I also purchased this pedestal table at Home Goods.  It was in the clearance section for such a great price I just had to buy it.  Originally it had a checker board graphic on top.  I simply painted the top aqua to match the rest of the colorful decor.  I placed this white task light from Ikea atop.  I love the gold detail and black and white cord…the little things get me every time!

Ikea sells these Ritva curtain panels in white.  They are the perfect texture and weight.  I ordered the pom pom trim from Amazon and sewed it up each side of the panels.  If you don’t have a sewing machine, or just don’t like to sew, you could always hot glue it!  That’s my motto… When it doubt, Hot Glue it!

To add just a little more whimsy to the window I hung these cute feather garlands from the rod.  I found them in the dollar spot at Target!  Raise your hand if you love the dollar spot!!

The bamboo blanket ladder was purchased from Amazon.  I painted the bottom 1/3 with a coordinating aqua paint.  It’s fun to give accent pieces a punch of color.  Im obviously loving the dipped look right now!   The colorful knit blanket is from Home Goods.  The flower pom pom is from HobbyLobby and comes in a variety of colors.

An old yellow ceiling light used to hang in this room.  I removed the yellow glass shade and hung this Nymo drum shade from Ikea to the existing fixture.  All I did was spray paint the inside gold.  Gotta add a little wow factor right?!

The wall color is the same that I used throughout our home – Dorain Gray by Sherwin Williams.
