Spring Cleaning my Outdoor Patio

DIY

I don’t know about you but I have a whole list of projects and parties planned for this summer. I’ve shared a few of these listed projects on my Instagram. I’ve even checked off a few, but the rest are all pending on getting my outdoor patios cleaned and ready for the warm weather.

Spring/Summer Projects (the Short list):

  • Paint my old ratty patio table & chairs –Check
  • Furnish my pergola patio – working on it… Did you see my last post?
  • Clean my windows, doors, and brick – Talking more about that today
  • Build an integrated BBQ station – might be ambitious
  • Build window planter boxes for my patio- I know I can do this!

Spring Cleaning my Outdoor Patio

In all my years of blogging this is the easiest tutorial I’ve ever written.  Probably because its one of the easiest projects to check off the list.  All you need is a hose, WINDEX® Outdoor Spray, a little bit of time, and maybe some upbeat tunes to encourage a good break down sesh in the backyard. Yes I just brought the party to spring cleaning! You can snag your WINDEX® outdoor sprayer at your local Home Depot or online HERE.

*You guessed it, this post is sponsored by WINDEX® through the Home Depot, but as always all opinions are my absolute own!

Here is what my patios looked like before I took my handy dandy sprayer to it.

Tutorial – Attach hose and spray (essentially it).

Attach the red cap for the WINDEX® outdoor sprayer to a garden hose and remove the yellow plug.

Turn the knob to RINSE and immediately start dancing and spraying all desired surfaces from at least 5 feet away.  I started with my french doors, worked my way over to the kitchen windows, and then across the painted brick wall where my future built-in grill will be. I also washed my basement walkout and surrounding windows. *Be sure to take the product for a test drive on an inconspicuous area prior to using on any painted brick.  This will ensure successful results.

Turn the knob to CLEAN and apply the suds to the rinsed surfaces moving from bottom to top (about 20 seconds).  Let the sudds soak for about 15 seconds- just don’t let them dry.  This was my kids favorite part – I guess because it felt like a giant outdoor bubble bath!

Flip the knob back to RINSE and rinse the entire sudsed surface from top to bottom.  This should take only about 10 seconds.

Sit back and dream about all the fun parties you can now host because your patio looks so sparkly clean. All the dust and dirt smudges are washed away and not a streak in sight. Insert more dancing!

I ended up spraying down the entire exterior garage wall and windows plus my front door.  This entire spring cleaning project only took about 1 hour, although my kids wished it had lasted longer.

Bye the way, Since I had freshly painted my patio table (yep already checked that one off the list), I didn’t need to spray it down.  However, this windex spray works great on outdoor furniture too.  My patio floor is a polyurethane decking that I designed to look like a tile inlay. Since I was spraying down the whole deck I decided to see how the windex worked on that too. It worked ok, but the windows, doors, and brick look fantastic- which is exactly what it’s meant to clean! It won’t harm synthetic decking, siding, or plants so no stress there. I used 2 bottles of the Windex® outdoor spray but it covered all of my main level windows, both patios, my front door, and painted brick.

  1. Do you have to wipe and squeegee everything after or just let it air dry after you rinse?
