Spring Home Tour with fresh Greens

A spring home tour refreshed with fresh greens both real and faux!

Today I am so excited to share my home all refreshed for spring!  I love bringing in elements from the new season inside and this year I went with fresh greens! Giving your home a little refresh for each changing season is always fun.  It doesn’t have to cost a fortune or take much time at all to bring a little breath of spring into your home.  Today I am sharing 3 easy tips to change up your home for the new season.

Spring Home Tour – Use fresh & faux plants inside

I recently visited my favorite local nursery Shade Home & Garden. I was on the hunt for some easy to care for green plants.  You see despite my best intentions my brown thumbs have always taken over in the past.  This year I just wanted to find some greens that would make a big impact but require little nurturing.  I came home with a potted Peace Lily, a giant Schefflera tree, a small olive tree, a couple succulents, and a Coral beauty Cotoneaster dammer bonsai (which is really a mouthful to say and not low maintenance at all, BUT I fell in love with it anyway).

I scattered the plants from my entry way into my living room and over onto my kitchen counter.  I love the life that each green plant brings into my home. With the exception of my little bonsai tree the rest of the plants just require a watering about once a week once the top couple layers of soil are fully dry.  I have also added a few moss mounds to different vessels on my shelving. It’s dried moss, sold in a bag, and you can shape and mold it into just about anything you like!

Spring Home tour – Create a vignette echoing the season or upcoming holiday

I love vignettes because they are an affordable way to bring charm, character, and life to any space.  Basically a vignette is a small grouping of objects that create a focal point or tell a story.  In my home I have collected all my recycled blue glass jars and bottles and displayed them on my sofa table.  You could leave it just displaying the collection, but I added some faux floral stems to coordinate with my “fresh greens theme”.  I adore the way it turned out!

Spring Home tour – Change out your pillow covers or simply shift them to a different space

My green theme continues to my pillows.  I chose this moss green velvety pillow on purpose.  I like the soft natural hue and texture it brings to my sofas.  My pillow combination stays with the blues and greens seen throughout the space.  When mixing pillows choose a variety of colors, patterns, and textures to add interest and depth.  Start with an organic print – one with movement and curves you would find in nature (mine linked here).  Then add texture in the variety of velvets, metallics, furs, and embroideries.  Remember my mossy green velvety pillow?  Add a geometric print for the final touch. Lines, grids, and repetition will balance out the movement of the organic print. Mine linked here.

I even brought in my ticking stripe pillows from the basement just to add another layer of stripes to my already striped ottomans.  Look around your home and see if you can switch out pillows from a bedroom to the living room!  Chances are you may have a few options! Trade them out to bring new life into a space without spending any money.
