Staircase Landing Reveal

DIY | Uncategorized

Boy oh boy its been a week!

If you follow me on Instagram @remingtonavenue, then you know my account was hacked and shut down. It actually happened just before I was going to share this Staircase Landing Reveal.

Also, I recently finished my adjoining hallway by adding wall trim, building ceiling beams, and replacing can lights for pendant lights. I haven’t fully styled the area yet , but you can expect a full blog post on that soon.

Anyway, this adjoining staircase landing has really come together around this beautiful piece of art. I love walking up my stairs each day to see this peaceful reminder that everything will be ok. If you are looking for this “walking on Water” piece or more like it, you can check out Reflections of Christ.

This whole transformation really started with this DIY frame I constructed to finish this giant canvas I’ve had for 2 years. DIY floating frame tutorial its linked here.

I wanted to create a space to just sit and have a moment in thought.

The first thing I do to define a space is add a rug. You can bring in so much texture, color, or pattern. I really like the subtle coloring of this leopard print rug. You can use my code: MYSHA60 for 60% off this rug or site wide.

I have had this leather wing back chair for years. I love how it brings depth and richness to the otherwise very white area. It is perfect for this staircase landing reveal. Layering a blanket and adding a couple pillows for texture and comfort went along way to achieving a comfortable and inviting spot to relax.

From there I added this cheetah ottoman under the painting. It’s actually one of my favorite pieces right now and you can custom order it in a ton of designer fabrics. Click here to checkout one of my favorite affordable online designer resources. I think it plays off the rug really well.

Let’s talk about this pedestal table. I actually added a few cabinet knobs on the base and a gold framed round mirror on top to create this unique one-of-a-kind look.

I didn’t want to purchase anything new for my staircase landing, so I just pulled together some pieces I had in my garage and upcycled them into something I actually love.

Tip: For this staircase landing reveal or any project, it’s great to use what you have on hand! Look around your own home for furnishings & accessories that aren’t being used and see if you can reinvent them into something you need?

My staircase landing used to be just a pass though. Now it has turned into one of my favorite spots in the entire house. All furnishing, accessories, and paint colors are linked below!
