Thanksgiving Entertaining- A Harvest Table

Home Tour | Interior Decor

Hello friends, I am so happy to have you joining me today. If you are visiting from Finding Lovely then welcome!  Jackie is such a talented friend with beautiful taste.  This Blog hop is all about Thanksgiving entertaining. I love fall harvest, showcasing pumpkins, pears, and apples a bounty.  So today, I’m showcasing my version of a harvest table, complete with a turkey.

I wanted to incorporate some of the patterns and colors that I already had in my kitchen and living room space.  Since I don’t have a formal dining space, all my decor needs to flow seemlessly from one space to another.   I added some red wine velvety pillows and a classic ticking stripe pattern to my collection a couple months back for my fall home tour.  They will be sticking around through the holidays, so that was my jumping off point.

When I can’t find what I want in the stores, I either repurpose an item I already own or visit the fabric store.  I have been known to use a curtain panel for a table runner in the past, but this time I just picked up this classic ticking stripe fabric by the yard.  It was on sale, so I grabbed 4 yards.  I draped it across the middle of my table, gathering it a couple times and letting the ends drape down the sides. I love the this neutral pattern as the foundation of my harvest table.  (And guess what…I already have an idea on how to repurpose this pretty fabric for Christmas, so keep your eyes peeled for that!)

Creating width  and elevation changes is a must when creating interesting tables.  I used my large black and white checked pedestal platter to elevate the turkey as the centerpiece.  I have used this platter so many times.  You can click here to see how I used it in my unconventional fall table scape.  Best part about it is that it’s large enough to replace that turkey basket with the real turkey once dinner is ready!

I used natural sliced wood platters to hold my pumpkins.  These are also versatile pieces that I use all around my home.  My pale orange fairy tale pumpkins are perfect as they are.  So many people who have seen my table ask if they are real and further examine them.  They are my absolute favorite pumpkin variety…and YES they are REAL!

Every turkey needs a nest! And that is exactly what my magnolia wreath creates.  It adds vibrant fall foliage to this harvest table and creates a definite focal point for my turkey.  I picked up this wire turkey basket about 4 years ago at a garage sale.  After searching and searching, I found THIS ONE, which I also love.  It will defiantly give you the same feel.

I couple last details to the turkey will do the trick.  I added a faux fall floral sprig to the tail to add some height and mimic a tail.  You could also add some pheasant feathers to create the same look.  And Lastly, a simple candle votive in the middle.  Turkey Centerpiece complete!

To balance the sides, I added some more magnolia sprigs and 2 tall black candle sticks.  You can click here to get the same set of 4 candlesticks that I have.

Each table setting starts with a natural woven place mat perfect for a harvest theme.  Layered on top are silver and copper chargers.  You can click here to get a similar set.  A classic white plate is all you need to complete the stack.

Tucked between the charger and plate is a striped dish cloth.  I like the extra length that I sometimes can’t find in a traditional napkin.  But don’t worry, I linked a few options for you that will give you the same feel. This gold plated table ware set was a new purchase for me this year.  I love extra sparkle and elegance.

This Thanksgiving table wouldn’t be complete without some fall harvest fruit.  I added a Bosc pear to each plate and a sprig of dried red eucalyptus. A perfect color balance of red, green, brown, and orange.  I even made a simple yet delicious dessert with these harvest pears.  I’ll be sharing this easy recipe next week…and guess what, it won’t ruin your diet either.  Sneak peak…

A final touch of sparkling apple cider and fresh cranberries to each glass completes the harvest theme.
