Custom White Exterior Paint for Brick

English Tudor Construction

Picking the perfect exterior paint color for my English tudor construction was harder than I thought! White paint is not forgiving and there are so many options…

Sure, you can order white brick, but it is expensive, and I actually love the look of painted white brick more. The trick is getting the tone just right. You do not want that blinding, glare-in-the-sun white. You want warmth without yellow. A soft matte finish that feels natural on brick, not shiny. Long-lasting, breathable, and beautiful.

Testing White Exterior Paint Colors

I started with four contenders:

  • Simply White (my last house’s exterior color)
  • Whisper White
  • Wimborne White
  • Calm

I grabbed samples and painted swatches on every side of the house. That is key because colors shift in full sun, shade, and even at different times of day. Always test your white exterior paint against your home’s stone, landscaping, and surroundings before committing. You do not want to repaint your entire exterior because you rushed this step.

I even did this when choosing my pop-out paint color, which was one of the toughest decisions in the whole process.

Discovering Romabio Mineral Paint

During my search, I found Romabio Paints . It is mineral-based, lasts for years, and has that gorgeous flat finish I wanted. It is mold-resistant, toxin-free, and environmentally friendly. Even better, it calcifies into the brick, allowing it to breathe and release moisture naturally.

Fun fact: The “custom color” here is what I used on my last home, but it looks completely different because we used a flat paint this time instead of semi-gloss.

Custom Paint

As much as I liked my test colors, none felt perfect. So we mixed a custom shade of white exterior paint with Fusion Paint & Supply in Park City. I am obsessed with the result. It is warm but not creamy, fresh but not stark. Exactly what I envisioned.

Shoutout to My Painters

Our painters, @that1painterslc, were amazing! If you know painting, you know that prep work makes or breaks the job. Bad prep shows through every coat. These guys were meticulous and I would 10 out of 10 recommend them.

Fascia Upgrade with Miratech

For the fascias, we skipped aluminum and wood and went with Miratech. It looks like wood but will not crack, warp, or require constant repainting. It still needs holes filled before painting, and my painters handled every detail perfectly.

Picking the Perfect Pop-Out Color

If you follow me on IG, you know I went back and forth on this choice. At first, I leaned toward light grey. Then I considered dark grey. Then I thought about a tan to tie in the stone. In the end, I went with dark grey for contrast, and I am so glad I did.

The winner was Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron. It is moody, striking, and makes the white brick stand out beautifully. I love the contrast against the stone and custom white paint.

  1. When you went to choose custom white, where do u even begin, like really! Can you walk us thru what that looked like. How did you come to, (that’s it, I’m mixing two colors)
My husband wants the brick painted white. I also love white but was thinking less stark more creamy, matte. Any advice appreciated 🙏
