Project Home

I’ve got a laundry list of “projects” to do here but first on the list is a new wall color.  My dreams are no longer in black and white… more gray.  Dorian gray by Sherwin Williams to be more specific! It only took me like 800 color samples to find the right one.  Its really surprising how tricky it is to pick out a good gray.  So much of it depends on the lighting in your home and which direction of sunlight you have. I had every gray on the wall from hues of purple and blue down to more brown grays.  One time i painted a whole basement in a color i thought was gray.  After finishing the entire space, i had to repaint because it came across so blue. Moral of the story… GET SAMPLES!  This photo really does it no justice.

Stop #1 PAINT

CB (hubbs), me, and CB’s little bro painted almost the entire house in this beautiful new neutral. Don’t worry I’ve got plans for pops of brightness in other spaces, but seriously can we just say that paint is such a inexpensive way to make and extreme impact on a space!

(contrasting the old yellow to the new gray)

stop #2 Floors

Who doesn’t want new carpet when moving into your new home?  This old carpet had seen better days and I was thinking dark wood could really open this floor plan up and make it feel like one large gathering area. Out with the old and in with the new!

Ahh thats better.  Fresh paint and shiny new floors, its practically a new house already!

did i mention i have little people living here?
