Upgrade your Doors with Antique Brass Hardware
One often-overlooked element that can significantly enhance the overall aesthetic of your space is interior door hardware. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—when it comes to home design, the details matter!

Why Choose Antique Brass?
I really debated between unlacquered brass and antique brass but ultimately chose antique brass because of its timeless elegance. Unlacquered brass is considered a living finish, meaning it will age, tarnish, and change over time. It’s also much brighter and shinier—a little more yellow and in your face.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I really like the subtlety of antique brass and the consistency of the finish. It’s sophisticated, rich, and luxurious and plays very well with the traditional style of my home.
The Best Antique Brass Door Knobs & Levers
Your door knobs are often the first pieces of hardware people notice. My go-to source over the years has been Emtek. I love their quality and design choices. My current home features a glass Providence knob in French Antique with a rectangular rosette. For the new house, I went with the same glass knob but chose a square rosette instead.
If you’ve ever ordered door hardware for an entire house, you know it can be quite technical. There are many variables to consider—handing, backplates, knobs vs. levers, privacy locks, etc. If you are not an experienced designer, I suggest visiting a local showroom that can help you place your order with the exact details you desire. The options are nearly endless!

This is not a “click and buy” type of product, so you can take this information to a local showroom or give it to your designer if you choose to replicate my choices in your own home.

I absolutely love the fluted levers on these multipoint locks. I paired them with a curvy backplate to balance the modern lever with a more traditional look.
