Elegant yet Cozy Christmas Decor- Holiday Home Tour
Today I’m sharing my Holiday home tour with all of you. I was so excited to deck the halls this year in our new home. It’s always so fun for me to come up with new ways to decorate my home each holiday season, but especially this year – our first Christmas in this home. Our new home definitely has a formality to it that our previous home didn’t share. So my challenge this holiday season (and really in my overall design scheme) was to create an elegant yet cozy Christmas for my family. Some would say that the two don’t live in harmony, but I am here to show you how they do. Let’s get started shall we?
An Elegant yet Cozy Christmas Tour
Walking in through the front door you enter a grand foyer that stands two stories high. I finished off the walls with formal molding painted white. The slate inlay on the floor acts as our rug. I recently added this round entry table. I love the modern design of the table mixed into this very traditional space. What is most exciting about having a round entry table is the seasonal decor that I will be able to display. This year I added a little fur tree with some died red eucalyptus leaves and some old branches I found outside. Add a little twinkle light and you have yourself a festive arrangement that cost about $10 and will last the entire season. Tip: Fill everyday urns, planter, bowls, and vessels with Christmas bulbs & ornaments for a super inexpensive decoration to add to any table top or shelf.
Our staircase banister is decked out with real cedar garland. Nothing says holiday home like the smell and look of fresh cut garland draped along the staircase. I simply added a natural colored ribbon and called it good. If you plan to do fresh garland, soak it in the tub overnight before you hang it. Spray it with Wilt Pruf to prevent shedding and drying out. It’s still messy, but O So pretty!
Elegant yet cozy Christmas in the living room
Straight ahead is my 12 foot Balsam Hill tree. I was so excited to participate in the 12 bloggers of Christmas tour featuring all different sizes and styles of trees. You can take the full tour here. My living room stands 2 stories high as well, so the space really needed a tree to match.
My Christmas tree is decorated with elegant glass ornaments ranging from silver to gold. However, I did weave in some pops of red thought the whole home. To keep an elegant yet cozy vibe, layer different fabrics in your throw blankets and pillows. Velvets speak luxury and formality while flannels read casual and cozy. I have combined velvets, plaids, animal prints, and furs to create this formal yet comfortable living room.

The cast stone fireplace is actually wood burning, but we added a gas kit for convenience. Boy am I glad we did because we have used it everyday since mid November. The fur continues to appear in my holiday stockings combined with a couple of knit socks. Tip: Stagger different lengths and materials of stockings to create a collected look.
The mantel is dressed with two different garlands. Faux cedar garland acts as the base topped with Two 70″ lengths of dried eucalyptus garland. I wove in a platinum tinsel ribbon to match my Christmas tree and placed 4 frosted red peonies for some extra flair. Atop the mantel stands my favorite vintage looking mirror and a wood Merry Christmas sign from the shop of Brookestartathome.
Behind the sofa is the most special christmas moment of all. My husband and I picked up this olive wood manger set when we visited Jerusalem a few years back. I placed it on the console behind the sofa knowing that my children would play with it. I want them to feel and understand the real reason why we celebrate this Christmas Holiday. I love watching them move the baby Jesus around and reorganize the wise men and animals in a way that makes sense to them. I set off the whole display with an assortment of bottle brush trees and a stand of twinkle lights. Tip: Use twinkle lights to accent cozy holiday moments through your home. The twinkle lights have timers for convenience.

Elegant and Cozy Christmas kitchen
I have a huge mirror that has traveled with me to each home, displayed differently in each space. I simply leaned it against the wall and draped some fresh cedar garland across the top and sloping down to the floor. I displayed another branch from outside in this basket and with dried red eucalyptus and twinkle lights mimicking the entry arrangement.

Holiday home decor continues into the kitchen with glass bulb garland strung across the black windows. I finished the little holiday moment off with swags of fresh cedar garland and ribbon bows. My barstools even got dressed up with some faux frosted branches and ribbon to match. A holiday wreath and some christmas bells finish off the elegant holiday kitchen. I can’t wait to share this years holiday treats with you. The are quick and easy but so so yummy. They will make the perfect neighbor gift.
