Homemade Cinnamon Buttermilk Syrup Recipe
This year especially, I have been really trying to make better food choices for myself and my family. Not that we are perfect by a long stretch, but I quit buying regular syrup from the grocery store about 5 months ago. I switched to organic real maple syrup but my kids really didn’t like it. So I came up with this homemade cinnamon buttermilk syrup recipe and we have never looked back!

It’s not healthy in the sense that’s it low sugar or low calorie, but it is made with real ingredients. No corn syrup, no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial colors or flavors or additives (like every grocery store options).

I usually double this homemade cinnamon buttermilk syrup recipe when I make it, because it is THAT good.
Pair it with my healthy pumpkin waffles or your favorite pancake recipe. This syrup will completely transform store bought options too!
Everyone always asks about this griddle – this is what I use and have loved it for YEARS! And it’s on SALE!

I keep one batch in the fridge (in plastic squeeze bottle) and one in freezer. Since there isn’t a bunch of yucky stuff in it, this homemade syrup will last in your fridge 1-2 weeks. It’s easy to freeze too! In an air tight container, it freezes well for up to 3 months.

You can serve this homemade syrup hot, straight from the stove. Or if it’s refrigerated you can simply just warm it up in the plastic squeeze bottle by putting it in a bowl of hot water.

My kids love this syrup so much and now don’t even request the regular grocery store option!
It’s so easy to make and the cinnamon gives it the yummiest spin. You can totally omit it if you want but we love it! It’s the first week of Fall, go ahead and add the cinnamon! The smell of this homemade syrup is incredible and your house smells amazing while you make it.
