Mixing Holidays: A Cozy Thanksgiving Tablescape with a Christmas Twist

Mixing Holiday decor

Hosting Thanksgiving every year means my table is where family and memories come together. I love crafting a Thanksgiving tablescape that’s warm, welcoming, and uniquely “me.” For this week’s blog post I wanted to share this practically free tablescape I put together!

I already owned all of these pieces and blended Thanksgiving and Christmas for a cohesive holiday vibe. Since my Christmas tree is usually up by Thanksgiving, I try to tie in both seasons. Here’s how I created this look and a few ideas for anyone wanting to make a tablescape that feels festive, cozy, and personal.

Embracing Thanksgiving & Christmas for a Holiday Harmony

I used real pumpkins as centerpieces

To balance the Thanksgiving feel with a hint of Christmas, I kept a few real pumpkins on the table for that perfect fall presence. The beauty of this is the flexibility—once Thanksgiving’s over, I can simply swap them out for more Christmas-specific decor, like ornaments or pinecones. This approach lets you enjoy the best of both seasons without needing a complete reset between holidays.

Layers, Texture, and Height for a Dynamic Look

Layers, Texture, and Height for a Dynamic Look

Layers and texture are everything when it comes to my decor. I always make sure my Thanksgiving tablescapes have visual depth and dimension with pieces at different heights. Candles are perfect for this! Most of us already have a stash of candles, so I mixed and matched various heights for warmth and a soft glow. I will say, Ive nearly replaced all my tapered candles with THIS FLAMELESS OPTION. They are still made of wax, but not a fire hazard. I love that they have different flame settings as well.

Ribbons are another versatile layer. I tied them around napkins, wrapped them around chargers, and even used them to add a pop of color. The best part? Ribbons are an easy switch each year to bring in different colors or themes without a huge investment.

Greenery for a Nostalgic Holiday Feel

Greenery is a must on my holiday table. It reminds me of childhood holidays and gives that nostalgic, holiday warmth that I love. Whether it’s sprigs of fresh pine, eucalyptus, or faux greenery from my decor closet, greenery instantly brings life and texture to the table.

Embracing the Charm of Mixed Place Settings

I don’t have a matching set of 10 place settings, and I actually love that about my table! Mixing gold and silver chargers, as well as silverware and glassware, gives a laid-back yet elegant feel that’s perfect for Thanksgiving. It’s a reminder that each setting doesn’t have to be identical to create a cohesive look. The charm lies in how you bring your personal style into it, mixing elements that feel true to you.

I hope this mix-and-match, cozy tablescape inspires you to create something that brings your own style to the table.

Remember, the best Thanksgiving tablescapes are the ones that feel like home!
