Creating a Whimsical, Woodsy Christmas Mantle for a Cozy Holiday Look

This year, I envisioned my holiday mantle exuding a woodsy, whimsical charm. I wanted it to feel both cozy and natural while adding a bit of wild flair. Here’s how I created my holiday mantle this season, along with links to shop my favorite finds!

The Asymmetrical and Timeless Garland Base

To start, I used my go-to garlands. This year, I chose a mix of faux cedar garlands in both 6-foot and 9-foot pre-lit lengths. Using Command Straps (I recommend 6 for secure hanging!), I draped the garlands asymmetrically so they cascade off the front of the mantle, not simply resting on top.

Adding Natural Elements

For a touch of nature, I gathered tree branches from my property and layered them throughout the garland. I also tucked in some faux natural picks with pinecones and iced branches to add height, texture, and drama—some of these branches extend over two feet out for a beautifully wild and whimsical look!

Decorate with Shed Antlers and Candlelight

To create an earthy feel, I placed shed antlers I found on our property across the top of the mantle (linked to similar faux options below). Around these, I arranged cream and white faux candles of varying heights on metal and wood stands. These realistic candles even have a waxy finish and come with a remote, so you won’t need to climb up each night to turn them on.

Warm Twinkle Lights: The Finishing Touch

What’s a Christmas mantle without twinkle lights? I opted for these beautiful, warm-hued twinkle lights that span the entire length of my mantle decor, adding that perfect glow to complete my design.
