Why We Love Uptown Drapes for Custom Window Treatments
Designing a room is a lot like putting together an outfit. A great outfit starts with a strong foundation, but it’s the accessories that make it feel complete. Just as jewelry or a scarf can elevate a look, drapes are the finishing touch that truly completes a room. This is why we absolutely LOVE Uptown Drapes for custom window treatments.

Drapes play such a big role in making a space feel finished. They truly can take a room from beautiful to polished, layered, and thoughtfully designed. But choosing the right drapes involves more than most people realize. From pleat styles and fabrics to lining, rods, and hardware, every detail contributes to the final look. You have to worry about length and how they hang across a window – it’s really a lot to think about! Thankfully, I’ve found a company that makes the entire process simple while delivering gorgeous, custom results.
My #1 secret weapon is Uptown Drapes. With hundreds of styles, prints, and fabrics to choose from, they’re the company I trust most when it’s time to add that final layer to a room.
No matter the space, my favorite drape style is a two finger top pleat. Hands down. It creates the most beautiful fullness when the curtains are open, giving them a luxurious look that’s hard to beat.

I even created a custom collaboration with Uptown Drapes in our previous home, so you can browse all of my favorite drapes and roman shades here!

One of my favorite parts of settling into a new home has been rediscovering all of the incredible fabric options Uptown Drapes offers. I love choosing patterns and textures that enhance each room and give every space its own personality.
Every room calls for something a little different. Color-drenched spaces practically beg for a patterned fabric. Rooms filled with texture and layered color often benefit from something a little softer and quieter. And those cozy little corners? They deserve the perfect finishing touch. The possibilities really are endless.

So far, we’ve completed three spaces in our home with Uptown Drapes: our master bedroom, living room, and most recently, Lou’s bedroom. Next up…the dining room.
For our bedroom, we chose a beige linen pinstripe with a warm tint called “Bequest Linen.” I absolutely love how it pairs with the mural wallpaper we installed. It pulls together all the right tones and makes the room feel warm, romantic, and incredibly cozy.

More details and finishes of our master bedroom are here.
Since these are bedroom drapes, we added blackout lining so we can enjoy an early bedtime – even with those 9 pm summer sunsets! One of my favorite features is the electric rod system. When you adjust one side, the other side moves with it automatically, making it so much easier to open and close tall drapes. You can also program it to open at the same time every morning, so you’re always waking up with the sun! I absolutely love this feature.
For our living room, we wanted something lighter that would still allow beautiful natural light to filter through while giving our family privacy.

We chose the Leon Alabaster with a two finger top pleat on a pewter rod. We also added a 48” pewter baton to these curtains because, honestly, is there anything that says “I’m a grown adult” more than dramatically pulling open a long curtain? I love how these drapes brighten the space. Even when they’re fully closed, the light-colored fabric keeps the room feeling airy and inviting.
Lou’s bedroom gave us the chance to have a little more fun with color and pattern. There were so many beautiful fabrics that would have added personality to her room, but we ultimately chose “Spencer” in Tendril Green. The color coordinates perfectly with her green walls, and the upward movement of the leaf pattern makes the room feel taller while beautifully complementing the wallpaper just above the windows.

We left these curtains unlined because Lou’s windows already have neutral roller shades. That gives her the flexibility to adjust the light throughout the day, whether she’s sleeping in or getting ready at her new vanity!

We used the same pewter hardware for Lou’s room, but the baton is 60” so our girl can reach it!

Now here’s where I need your help!
It’s time to choose the fabric for our dining room, and I can’t decide. I’m feeling especially inspired by French blues and contrasting white lattice. I’m leaning toward something more neutral, but maybe a colorful trim is the way to go. What do you think?
