Ever since Lou was born, I’ve dreamed of creating a shared girls bedroom for little gals. I just picture lots of girly giggling and doll playing going on in a shared bedroom. My girls are about two and a half years a part so it seems like the perfect age gap to have them share a room. Currently, Remi and Lou have their own rooms but now that I’ve finished the space it’s time to consolidate. This will free up an extra bedroom upstairs for someone else…and NO that’s not an announcement!

This creamy lime-cilantro slaw is perfect with pulled pork, grilled chicken, or fish tacos!
This creamy slaw is in my top 3 favorite salads. Unlike most other salads, this one keeps in the fridge for a few days! I usually double the recipe so we can eat it all week.
If you are following the keto or low carb diet this slaw is perfect! Click Here to check out all my other Ketogenic recipes.
Are you looking for a way to update your home’s dated bricks or just simply love the look of imperfect stone with excess mortar? Check out one of today’s hottest design trends: German smear.
You’ll already know I’m basically a fan of brick in any fashion, raw, painted, or smeared up! My home actually features brick in all forms- a painted white brick exterior, a herringbone raw brick accent wall, and now my new german smear backsplash.
German smear is a type of mortar wash. It’s achieved by spreading wet mortar over the bricks, then removing some before it dries. The result is reminiscent of the Old World. My home’s overall ascetic is a modern take on french country design, so this seemed to be the perfect choice.
These low carb crepes made with almond flour, coconut four, and cream cheese make a delicious breakfast or dessert. Stuff them with your favorite sugar free fillings like whipped cream, keto lemon curd, berries, or dark chocolate.
I figure most foods with a high egg volume have to convert fairly easily to a low carb or keto version. Crepes definitely fit the egg filled bill and boy was I right! Swap out the traditional flour and sugar for some keto alternatives and you’ve got yourself a super delicious low carb treat!
I’ve been working on a fun project over at my sister’s house. I am helping her transform her outdated bedroom for a modern more colorful master bedroom retreat. It’s always fun helping my sister design her spaces. She has a modern edgy style that is different from my own. You may remember last year when I helped her select all the finishes for her semi custom home. You can click here to see the rest of her home.
I thought it would super fun to share two different design plans: both colorful and modern. I actually cant decide which I like better, so I thought maybe you’ll could help me out! Leave me a comment at the end of this post and tell me which master bedroom design you would choose!
Black tile and white oak cabinetry…yes Please! My sons bathroom has turned out to be one of my favorite bathrooms in our entire house. Something about the neutral yet bold design has me all heart eyes over here.
Let’s start with the natural wood vanity. I designed this piece to resemble a dresser but function as a regular vanity. The middle “drawers” are actually cabinet doors which the hardware helps disguise. His cabinet is made from natural white oak and protected with this sealer. We used this product on all the white oak in my home to protect the wood but maintain the natural color. All my cabinets were built by RL Henrie Custom Cabinetry.
You know what I did instead of taking process photos? I made a speedy video of the whole darn thing! You can watch the video on my Instagram feed Click here to see my laundry room sharpie wall. The good news is that this wall is super easy to recreate and I can break it down for ya in a few steps. Get your markers ready cause you are about to make this easy geometric sharpie wall at home!
- Sharpie Paint Pen (I used gold in medium tip)
- Ladder or step-stool (depending on ceiling height
I almost ordered a geometric wallpaper for my sons bathroom when it dawned on me that I could totally draw this. One hour later I had myself a wallpaper look alike with the help of my little paint sharpie. I used the gold one, but black or silver would look amazing also. I actually created a sharpie wall in my last home as well. Click here to see my laundry room sharpie wall.
Today I am very excited to reveal my little girls bathroom design! My 5 year old daughter has even put some work into her bathroom and I couldn’t be happier with how this little space turned out. Since this bathroom belongs to my 2 youngest girls, I thought a little “Just Be You” sign was appropriate.
I’ll get to the full tour in a minute, but first lets address the phrase “Just Be You”. Easier said than done these days, but what an important value to instill in our young ones and in ourselves. I have to admit since I started this blog and social media page that there have been many times that I didn’t want to be “Just Me”. It’s easy to get distracted and to compare ourselves to others – especially in areas we feel we aren’t good enough or that we just don’t compare!
Being that it is the beginning of January, many of you have requested more info on why and how I follow a Ketogenic diet. So let’s just dive right in and get a keto kickstart to the new year!
I have been following a keto lifestyle for over a year now. Originally my husband and I jumped aboard the keto train partially due to the diagnosis of his fathers Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Alzheimer’s. He was only 59 years old, so this came unexpectedly. No one really knows if it is heredity or not, but it really made my husband and his brothers think twice about some of the diet decisions they were making (or not making). Could their diet help prevent them from getting this debilitating and ultimately terminal disease? Studies show that it is likely! My hubs older brother started the ketogenic diet 3 years ago and never looked back. His dedication and conviction got the rest of us thinking. Other than the known side affect of fat loss, the ketogenic diet has some major brain benefits. With brain health and fat loss on our side, we took the plunge. Other than a few holiday slip ups, I’ve stayed committed because I just feel so much better. I will say it’s much easier to stay committed having myself and my husband on the same diet.
