Remi’s Little Girl Room Reveal
My soon to be 3 year old daughter has officially graduated from diapers and cribs to big girl “undies” and a full blown bed! Is it possible to be sad and happy at the same time? It means my “Remi cakes” is no longer a baby (insert sad face). However, it’s a fantastic excuse to re-design a room which is like the biggest, best gift this gal could ask for! With mixed emotion I’ll take you through the entire design process from Remington’s nursery to Remi’s little girl room reveal!
While baby Lou’s room has a very colorful and boho flavor, Remi only had one color in mind…PINK! In true 3 year old fashion P-I-N-K is the only color her little eyes see. Remi’s wall color is Peach ale mode by Glidden (close enough right?) The wall color didn’t change from her nursery, but one wall did get a makeover. I shiplapped the window wall and painted it white. It sure brightened up the space and since shiplap is ever so popular it was an easy choice. I installed the whole wall for less that $30. You can read the full tutorial here…. Faux Shiplap Wall

I often get asked “where do I start” or “how do you start a room”? My only answer is to start with something you absolutely ADORE. For Remi’s little girl room, the vintage furniture, handed down from grandma, was just that! For Lou’s room it was the boho diamond rug. Choose something you love and use it as a jumping off point! We inherited the vintage furniture while I was pregnant with Remi. It was in pretty rough shape, but with some wood filler, sand paper, and a whole lot of love, I painted the side tables and dresser a creamy white. I finished each piece with an antiquing glaze and sealed it with a polycrylic. These old pieces have held up beautifully!
The 4 post vintage bed was to be the star of the room and I wanted it to shine bright. After contemplating whether to paint it, I finally settled on upholstry. I used a nontraditional method but I’m totally in love with the way it turned out. I could chat forever about this fun project but if you’d like to read more, here’s the link…. Upholstered Vintage Headboard Tutorial. I picked up this vivid floral print from Joann Fabric as part of the HGTV collection. I think it ads just the right amount of pop!
I found this gorgeous chic white bedding from Beddy’s. I’ve had a few friends recommend their product and let me tell you I’m so glad I listened! It’s a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, a cuddle blanket, and a quilt build in ONE! Genius right? Little people can finally make their own beds… and Remi actually loves zipping hers right up! Well the first night Remi slept in it, she peed the bed! The only time she’d done that… dang it! I threw it in the wash and it was good as new. I could go on and on about Beddy’s, but you get the gist! I got the whole set complete with the white pillow shams AND the gold polka dot bed skirt to play off the gold nail head trim on the headboard. The Beddy’s buddy (Bonny) came with the cutest little monster book and has become a nightly favorite.
I’ve been obsessing about these paper white flowers adorning Remi’s wall for quite awhile. I seemed to stop and stare every time I saw them in a photo. Noel @Fancilfuldesigns hand makes these beauties in several varieties all shapes and sizes. Remi calls them her magic pedals! I’m just thrilled with how these “magic pedals” compliment Remi’s room. Something to do with fairies so she says 😉 And speaking of fairies, there is one more addition still to come. Remi and I are working on that together so stay tuned for that post!

If I had to pick 2 items that every little girl must have in her room I would say a music box and a piggy bank. Something about a little ballerina twirling around playing beautiful music captured Remi’s heart. My mom collected music boxes and I remember spending hours looking at her collection. When its been a little too quiet in the house, It usually means Remi is atop this little stool playing with that ballerina! And Honestly What kid doesn’t like to see their money pile up? Or adult for that matter!

I can’t find where you got the “doily” rug in your daughters room???
Hi allison. I linked it to the small picture of the rug right under the 3rd photo. If you click on any of the small photos where is says “shop the room” it will take you directly to the site and Item where I purchased it. Thanks and have a great day
This is such a beautiful room, and oh my that first picture in the post is so precious! We’re transitioning the old nursery into a big boy room for my son right now, and it’s bittersweet. I think he might actually want to sleep alone now, and I’m not sure I’m ready. Haha!
I feel like its always bitter sweet transitioning. They grow so fast! Thank you Iris
Howdy! Would you mind if I share your blog with my twitter group? There’s a lot of folks that I think would really enjoy your content. Please let me know. Thanks
