We have had our Traeger for over 5 years and we just recently upgraded to the 575 with ‘Wifire Technology’ and love it even more. This is no ordinary grill – you can basically use it as an outdoor oven too! It truly does it all! With the newest technology, you can control your Traeger directly from an app on your phone! This means Chris (hubby) no longer has to baby sit his meat all day. We can run errands, go to church or work, all while our dinner is cooking.

These Pulled Pork Sandwiches are one of our go-to meals because Dad does the heavy lifting and mans the grill as we entertain.

This is so simple and great for beginners and also a major crowd pleaser! With the holidays coming up, these Pulled Pork Sandwiches are perfect!

These Traeger Pulled Pork Sandwiches are incredible paired with my famous lime cilantro slaw and serve it all on buttery brioche buns. Oh man, my mouth is watering!

NOTE: *we often double the spice rub recipe below and bag the other half for our next pulled pork dinner. It’s a household favorite – even amongst our toddlers.

The secret behind these sandwiches? Our SECRET INGREDIENT! We like our pulled pork with a bit of a latin flare. Yes! You read that right! After the pork is fully cooked and shredded, we like to add 1/2 a can of green enchilada sauce. The extra flavor pairs so well with the lime cilantro slaw.

These are NOT your typical Traeger Pulled Pork Sandwiches!

Pulled Pork Sandwiches *Secret Family Recipe*

Ingredients

  • 7 lbs bone in pork shoulder
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin
  • 1/2 tbsp sriracha powder
  • 2 cups apple cider

Instructions

  1. Mix all dry spices together in a bowl. Generously season pork roast on all sides with spice rub. When ready to cook, set Traeger temperature to 250 degrees F and preheat, lid closed for about 15 minutes.

  2. Place the pork roast on the grill, fat side up and smoke until internal temperature reaches 160. This should take about 3-5 hours. With the new Traeger, it alerts right when the meat is at temperature! Game changer.

  3. Remove pork roast from the grill. Stack large sheets of aluminum foil on top of each other, ensuring they are wide enough to wrap the entire pork shoulder. Place pork shoulder in the center of the foil, then bring up all the sides of the foil (creating a sort of open envelope).

  4. Pour in apple cider. Wrap the foil tightly around the pork, ensuring the cider does not escape.

  5. Place foiled pork shoulder back on Traeger grill and continue to cook until the internal temperature reaches 204 degrees f.

  6. Remove from the grill and let the meat rest for approximately 30 minutes, still wrapped in foil. Dump out the extra juice into a fat separator.

  7. Shred pork and add back in extra juice as desired. Also add a 1/2 can of our secret ingredient to the mix now (green enchilada sauce).

  8. Place on rolls and serve with slaw! Enjoy!
