Pool House Update in the Hamptons

Summertime travels have officially begun! I just got back from a trip to the Hamptons over the weekend and it was so fun. We got lucky and scored a great house and had an amazing weekend. The entire town is so cute and charming, like it’s out of a movie. And we are so excited to go back with our family at the beginning of June to kick off the summertime fun!

While we are there we’ll be hanging out, having fun, and I’ll be working on a project. I’m going to tackle my friend’s pool house!

It has great bones, but it’s basically a blank slate that could use a little sprucing up. I’m excited to give this space some fun, coastal personality in this pool house update!

I have a preliminary mood board for what I think I want the space to look and feel like, but nothing is set in stone yet. The idea I have is to install vertical shiplap about 2/3 up the wall around all 4 walls and finish it with a picture ledge. Above that, I’ll add some coastal wallpaper and some fun art. I’ll also remove the shelves above the kitchen counter, since they aren’t needed. There’s even an adjoining bathroom that will get a little refresh too.

I want the pool house to function as a daytime hangout, but also as an additional room where someone could sleep if needed. So a daybed sofa seems to be a perfect fit for the space.  I’m thinking of adding a hanging chair and a few lounge pieces to the front porch to make it more inviting. I want both the inside and outside to be places where people want to hang out. I really cannot wait to do this project this summer! Stay tuned on my Instagram for this Hamptons pool house update!
