Starting at the beginning, the wall color is Cheating Heart by Benjamin Moore.  It creates the perfect moody yet sophisticated back drop for this globally inspired home office. This color covers the built-ins (designed by me), the walls, and the ceiling.

I was fortunate enough to partner with some great companies and friends to bring this office transformation to light. All of the furnishings are from Gatehouse no.1 and can be purchased from the Orem, Utah location or by calling this number (801) 225-9505.  This includes the amazing desk, rolling leather chair, high back arm chairs, side table, small ottoman, and chandelier. Give them a call & let them know I sent ya!

With the exception of the chairs, everything was delivered just in time to photograph. Sometimes custom chairs take a bit longer than expected, but Gatehouse was kind enough to loan me these two chairs for the reveal.  I actually selected these exact chairs- different fabrics! I love the swivel feature and they are so comfortable. This silhouette looks great with just about any fabric, but you can read more about my fabric selections ON THIS POST.  Don’t worry I’ll be sharing them once they get delivered! Think subdued leopard print!

The stone top side table is such a beautiful piece. I love the movement in the table top and the wood and metal legs. It coordinates seamlessly with the wall color. I topped it with an acrylic lamp I’ve owned for years.  It’s a timeless piece.

Office Desk, built-ins & Leather Chair

The desk was the first piece I selected- my inspiration piece so to speak! I just love its unique silhouette and the color was a perfect match to my white oak floors. The desk chair is a dark mocha leather. It’s a tailored take on a classic tufted chair and reflects the stripes in the zebra rug.  *Make sure to repeat colors at least 3 times in a room.  It creates a balanced & soothing space.

The office built-ins were styled with pieces we have collected over the years. You can read about the shelf styling HERE and how it tells our story.  Sentimental pieces mixed with tokens from travel and books that truly speak to who we are.  I didn’t spend a dime on styling this room – I just shopped our home and storage.

Layered rugs & Lighting

Im a sucker for a good animal print which is exactly why I chose a subdued leopard print fabric for my arm chairs (coming soon) and why I’ve added this zebra rug in the mix. Animal print speaks to the globally inspired theme and adds interesting pattern and movement to the office. An animal hyde over a moretraditional weave is one of my favorite layered rug looks.  This rug displays a mix of greens and grays, all falling in the same tone as my wall color.

The lighting in this office is on another level. I absolutely adore this dangling crystal chandelier. It comes in a small and large size option- mine is the small. I love the aged patina and the abstract shape.

The alabaster wall sconces were a total splurge, but I just kept coming back to them over and over.  I have only seen them featured in bathrooms, but I absolutely love what they bring to this office. The brushed brass bases speak to the brass cabinet hardware and brass art frames.

A classic art display in the office

All of the framed art on this wall came from Minted – a source that features artists from all around the world.  I selected both masculine and feminine prints- some with color and some without.  You can read more about how to recreate this look and more ON THIS POST. The only other art that hangs on the wall is a signed print of Dan Gable- an olympic wrestler. If you are a wrestler (like my husband) then you know who he is!

  1. You have great taste and a good eye! Room turned out beautiful! I am hm so I’m the person who doesn’t hang art. Loved ur post. I have a paneled den and never knew if I should hang art at the top of the panel as you did or more in the middle at eye height.

  2. I love the office! Can you tell me the name and brand of paint used on the built ins? They are beautiful!
    Thanks!
